And let me guess, every domain you search for it either taken or selling for an arm and a leg.
There's reason why finding a domain is so difficult. And there are also ways to play smart and secure an amazing .COM domain without spending any more than $20.
So by the end of this article, you'll not only be able to find a domain that is available. But it will also be cheap.
The first thing we need to make very clear is your domain will not, and will never, dictate how successful your brand will be.
All we need to do is make sure your domain is relevant and easy to remember.
That is it.
You don't need to have something completely clean and based around the brand name only. Domains like this have already been snapped up, so we're 10 years too late. But what we can do is use strategic additions to the web domain to make it more unique and (most importantly) available.
One thing which is really important to mention is if you search for a domain on the likes of godaddy.com and you don't secure the domain there and then, there is a good chance third paries will be notified that the particular domain has been gaining interest and they will buy it before you have the chance.
This is something that has happened to me and a few of my clients over the years. So if you find a domain that fits what you need, just secure it as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
There are so many different ways to find a domain which can work for you and your brand. But the most effective is by adding a simple word before or after your brand name.
This word obviously needs to be relevant to your brand and what you do. But there are tons of options out there for you to choose from. We'll explore a few now, just so you get the idea.
Let's say you were a coffee shop and you wanted to call your brand cookies. The obvious search would be for just the word cookies, but this is always going to be secured by someone else.
An alternative would be to search for WWW.COOKIESCOFFEE.COM or WWW.COOKIESCOFFEESHOP.COM.
Both are relevant and look like they belong in the domain.
You couldn't for example use something like WWW.COOKIESBEERANDSODA.COM because it just doesn't work.
Another one of my favourites to use is using WEARE at the beginning of the domain. For example WWW.WEARECOOKIES.COM
This almost never fails in securing a great relevant domain.
I hope this little article gave you a couple of ideas in how to create and secure a great .COM domain for our business and brand name.
